On Golden Pond is a touching comedy by Ernest Thompson.

Taking place over one summer, this warm and witty play is really a love story of an aging couple facing what might be their final visit to the cottage they've cherished for nearly 50 years. Norman is irascible and preoccupied with a failing memory and dying, while Ethyl is firmly grounded and long suffering. Their idyllic surroundings are interrupted by a visit from their estranged daughter, her fiancé and his teenage son, who is dropped off for the summer. The old man and the kid grudgingly move toward a trusted camaraderie. Through this relationship Norman learns, belatedly, how to be a father to his daughter. As the summer wanes there are a couple crises that brings everyone to the realization that life is a precious thing, and to a tear-jerking but happy ending.
